Walks to Suit Everyone
Strathglass Marketing Group introduced the first Glen Affric Walking Festival back in 2004 with the aim of providing a range of walks to suit all abilities that would not only encourage people to take to the great outdoors but would enable participants to learn a bit more about Glen Affric and the surrounding area. The early festivals were generally 'themed' such as 'Heritage' and 'Conservation in Action' with many of the walks being tailored to give an insight into these aspects
SMG would like to acknowledge the support it received from bodies such as Forestry Commission Scotland, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the Highland Council Countryside Rangers, Boots n' Paddles and Trees for Life for contributing to the success of the walking programmes. Also involved from the outset was local company Natural High Guiding who provided leaders for a number of the high level walks. From 2010 NHG has taken over responsibility, supported and encouraged by SMG, for running the annual walking festival under the 'Outta Affric' banner.
For 2013, the festival runs from Friday 24th May till Monday 27th May. For further details and booking information visit the Natural High Guiding website
Each year in February NHG runs a Winterfest programme including winter skills sessions. The Winterfest returns to Glen Affric in 2013. Again check out the NHG website for details.
