The Old Stable, Corrimony, close to the Glen Affric Natural Nature Reserve, offers our guests the opportunity to relax in a quiet country area away from the stresses and strains of modern life. It lies in a wooded area adjacent to a working farm. The Stables were converted in 2007 to a very high standard, STB 4 star, to provide self catering accommodation for 10 people. There is a modern well fitted kitchen, dining room, large living room and 5 double/twin bedrooms All electricity is included and linen provided with a cot and high chair available. As our contribution towards Green Tourism all our heating and hot water are provided by a geothermal ground source heat pump with underfloor heating downstairs and radiators in all the upstairs rooms. With the enclosed courtyard guests can enjoy an alfresco BBQ during our long summer evenings when darkness only falls after 11 at night. Garden furniture is provided along with ample parking for at least 5 cars.

Locally, the Corrimony RSPB Reserve offers spectacular walks over the lower hills with views of mountains and lochs. The star species on the reserve are Black Grouse, Crested Tit, Golden Eagle, Greenshank and Scottish Crossbill. From our doorstep you will find numerous walks and cycle rides along forest trails and long distance paths including one to the Plodda Falls at Tomich where you will also find some of the tallest trees in the country. Glen Affric is famous for it’s walks both short and long and is a base for climbing some wonderful Munros and Corbets where the walker is rewarded with some of the best views in the Highlands. Glen Cannich is wild while Glen Strathfarrar has wonderful woodlands, lochs and side glens all for you to explore. Please note that Glen Strathfarrar is closed in Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings. Loch Ness is close by and can be explored by boat while at Fort Augustus you can while away a few hours watching the yachts passing through the canal locks while enjoying a walk along the river.
Glenurquhart is an ideal base to explore the Highlands with Inverness only 25 miles away and Skye, Eileen Donan Castle, Fort William, and Caithness all within a day’s travel.
Dolphins can be seen at high tide in the Beauly Firth and are well worth a day trip which can include Cawdor Castle, Culloden Battlefield and Fort George.
Other activities include Golf only a few miles away at Aigas close to Beauly, Pony Trekking at Cougie, possibly the remotest area in Scotland for Pony Trekking, Fishing for Salmon and Trout, Deer Spotting, and Mountain Biking, bikes can be hired locally.
